Frequently asked questions.

  • Permit requirements vary across counties and cities per location. In North Carolina, the building code requires that sheds exceeding 12 feet in any direction need a permit. If your shed is smaller than 12x12, you may only need a zoning permit, or you may not need a permit at all.. If you are not sure, contact your city’s zoning departments. They can answer your questions and help you secure a permit, if needed.

Upon request, a standard set of engineered plans are available for Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina that can help obtain a permit.

  • Liberty does provide plans and upgrades to meet these high wind areas in Eastern North Carolina. You will want to talk to your local dealer for these details.

  • Our engineered plans are rated only for sheds and are not rated for the extra weight requirements of garages for vehicles.

  • Rent-to-own is a rental plan, not a financing plan. This means there is no interest rate. There is a set, monthly payment.

  • This is truly a personal option and can depend on your personal situation. With bank financing, it can be a cheaper option in the long run if you have good credit. With rent-to-own, there is no credit check required and could be a great option for the following reasons:

    • You are buying a home and don’t want to have a credit check application show in your credit reports.

    • You don’t have great credit, but still want to get the product before you have the full payment.

    • Flexibility: Since rent-to-own is a monthly rental plan, you have flexibility to return the product if your life situation changes.

    • No penalty pay-off: This means you can pay the contract early and it will save you some money.

  • Sure! We even offer an electric package. Our electric package is delivered ready to be connected to your power source by a licensed electrician or homeowner. This connection is not provided by Liberty.

  • Liberty sheds are engineered and built as sheds. Liberty is not a licensed contractor, nor a home manufacturer. However, many of our customers have upfit or converted their Liberty shed into an office, short-term rental, cabin, or tiny home. The key is working with your local government and code application office to ensure compliance every step of the way. You can hire a general contractor, or you can contract the project yourself! Liberty is not involved in this process, but supplies the shed as a manufactured product starter kit for your amazing conversion project!

  • Absolutely not. Of course, you can place it on a concrete pad or even a prepared gravel pad which is the preferred way. These options can help ensure your shed doesn’t settle with time. You can learn more about how to create a prepared pad on our delivery page.

If you do not have a prepared pad, Liberty will level your unit with blocks.

  • Yes, Liberty provides free blocks to level the shed at delivery, based on the delivery team leveling the shed from the highest point of the delivery site using the smallest block available. We do not recommend placing units on blocks higher than 24 inches. If the site requires that we go over 24 inches, charges will apply. See the delivery page for more information.

  • You should allow for a minimum of one foot on each side of your shed or gazebo. If your fence opening is too small, you can either temporarily remove a section or two of your fence for delivery or choose to have the unit built on-site.

There also must be enough room to maneuver corners or go under wires or tree branches. We recommend everyone review the information on the delivery page for more delivery considerations. If unsure if the shed will fit, ask your salesperson for a site visit.

  • Yes. You sure can! We offer an on-site build experience for those who simply have no room for traditional shed delivery. There is an additional fee for this service. See your local sales team for details.

  • Feel free to reach out to our customer care team at 336.751.0599 or by email at customercare@libertysheds.com. They will be happy to help you.

  • Liberty Sheds are warranted for ten years from the date of installation against defects in materials and workmanship.

  • Just like your home, storage sheds require proper maintenance to preserve the life and quality of the unit.

    • Check for leaks, cracks and holes. Make sure there are no missing shingles or cracked windows. Sheds can also be hit by yard debris causing cracks or holes in the siding. Those should be repaired as soon as it is noticed.

    • Keep all grass and vegetation trimmed around the shed.

    • If skirting is used around the permitter, choose lattice or other material that will allow for proper air circulation for the shed floor.

    • Some settling may occur with your shed. Always check the doors and use the adjusters to ensure they are level and close appropriately.

    • Keeping water away from any building will always help in maintenance. Consider adding gutters and door awnings.

  • Yes, you can. These sheds are portable outbuildings, and as such, are able to be transported. You can contact us and get a moving quote from our delivery team or you can schedule it through a different company.
